Clean Air Day - How we can all make a difference. Clean Air Day is on Thursday 15th June. Now in its seventh year is an initiative to help drive a positive shift in public knowledge and action. The day is a chance to find out more about air pollution, share information, and make our air cleaner and healthier for everyone.

Routine checks of permits issued under the Pollution Prevention and Control legislation. Officers were out in West Berkshire last week undertaking a routine bi-annual inspection of a commercial premises.

Reminder for Dog Owners - Do not leave your dog in your car unattended. As the weather forecast looks like temperatures are set to rise this week its worth reminding dog owners of the dangers of leaving your dog in a car.

Drivers fined for overloaded vehicle and breach of weight restrictions. The Public Protection Partnership (PPP) enforces weight restriction orders made under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as well as the goods vehicles overloading offences under the Road Traffic Act 1988.

Water safety report. The National Water Safety Forum has published its 2022 national drowning fatality report. There were 226 accidental fatalities in the UK in 2022 and almost half were during June, July and August. Inland waters, such as rivers, canals, lakes, reservoirs and quarries, continue to be the leading locations for accidental drowning, with 60 per cent of deaths. Males continue to be over-represented, with 83 per cent of accidental fatalities.

Permits for Dry Cleaners and the role of Public Protection Partnership. The Public Protection Partnership covers many day to day elements of our lives that we’re most likely not even aware of. There are the highly visible aspects of our role, such as dealing with food hygiene in food outlets and prosecuting rogue traders and highlighting current scams. But are you aware of the checks we might be making on your local dry cleaners?

Scam Awareness Week 22nd May - 28th May. Citizens Advice runs the Scams Awareness campaign in close collaboration with the Consumer Protection Partnership. The campaign brings together key partners in the consumer landscape to identify, prioritise and coordinate collective action to tackle detriment.

How to tackle rising instances of 'Vaping' among young people. Vaping has become a growing trend among young people in the UK, with more and more teenagers trying it out every day. Although vaping is often promoted as a safer alternative to smoking traditional cigarettes, the potential risks and negative consequences of underage vaping cannot be overlooked.

Reminder to make sure your dog is microchipped and has a tag on their collar. As Spring seems to have sprung and we've got some nicer weather at last it might be the time of year when we're thinking of going out and about for some longer walks with our dogs. As a dog owner, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of your pet I'm sure if a top priority.
